Fine, very contrasted view of the Kremlin from the Southeast, incorporating the Moskva river and taken a few years after the rebuilding of the Moskvoretskiy bridge in steel in 1872. Next to the bridge lie the banks of Kitay-Gorod; the site on which the modern day 'Rossiya' hotel stood. On the right from the Kremlin, one can see the famous St Basil's Cathedral built between 1555 and 1561, to commemorate the capture of the Khanate of Kazan.
