Engraved map with hand-colour in outline, dissected into 24 sheets and mounted on linen, extending west to east from The Western Isles to Petershead and north to south from John o'Groats, inset of Orkney and Shetland Isles, table of main roads and distances between towns to left border, table of direct mail coach road between Edinburgh, York and London with distances to right border, brown marbled paper slip-case with publisher's label, rubbed and scuffed. Dimensions: 675 by 810mm. (26.5 by 32 inches).
Curiously, the map appears to be printed on the verso of sheets engraved with parts of Thomson's maps of 'The Southern Hemisphere'; 'South America' and 'Denmark and the Faroe Islands'.
