An outstanding copy of a lovely railway guide. It contains two fine, hand-coloured engraved maps, each with a vignette (one of Euston Station, one of a locomotive and carriages) and a series of charming wood-engravings in the text. The book first appeared in 1839 published by Hayward and Moore. This is the 4/6d version which was issued without steel engravings. The present copy bears the ownership inscription of Joseph Maudslay, son of Henry Maudslay, and a pioneer in the use of direct-acting marine engines.
